Carolina Sapphire Cypress, also known as Arizona Cypress, is a fast-growing, graceful evergreen tree featuring silvery-blue, lacy foliage that provides year round color and texture in the landscape. A super-fast grower moderate to 30' tall and 10-15' wide. Useful in landscape beds, islands and medians as screen, buffer, specimen, or in groups. Useful around the home or a building to frame the outside corners. Form is upright, broad and conical with weeping branchlets. An excellent selection to create a quick screen or buffer. Absent a soil test that would indicate type and amount of fertilizer to be applied, use a well-balanced "shrub and tree fertilizer" or organic plant food purchased from your local nursery and garden center to feed your evergreen privacy screen trees. Fertilizer must be placed near the tree's absorbing roots. The absorbing roots begin several feet from the trunk and can extend beyond the spread of outermost branches by as much as 40 to 50%. The simplest and fastest way to apply fertilizer is to spread it on the surface of the ground under and beyond the branch spread. For application, you can use a broadcast-type spreader or broadcast by hand. When in doubt as to how much fertilizer to apply, follow application rates on product package. One application of fertilizer in Spring (after new growth has emerged), and again in late Summer, should be sufficient.

This evergreen privacy scree tree requires no pruning. Though some screen trees can be sheared to form a hedge, the purpose for planting a privacy screen is to allow your plants to grow and establish a buffer. During any time of year it is okay to remove stray, damaged or dead branches. Hand-pruning, with sharp hand pruners, is recommended.

This plant typically encounters very few pest or disease problems. If a pest or disease problem is identified, treat with an insecticide product, preferably one containing "Neem oil". Neem oil is a safe, triple-action product that can be used to control insects, mites and diseases. If your plant appears seriously stressed or diseased, consult with your local nurseryman, arborist, professional landscaper or local extension agent.
