Yellow Flag Iris is a tall iris (to 6') with green sword-shape leaves that make for a great vertical accent in the garden. Though this iris will tolerate dry soil, and even drought, it is most at home in moisture-retentive to wet soils and thrives in the garden pond. The pretty yellow flowers, flecked with brown spots, show up in late spring to early summer. Will spread in wet soil.

Feed in Spring and then on an as needed basis through late Summer. We generally recommend a slow-release granular flower food, higher in the middle number: this is phospherous, which helps to promote strong root systems, strong stems and plenty of flowers. Alternatively, you may use a natural or organic, non-burning plant food. Refer to product label for application rates and instruction.

This is a low-maintenance plant that requires little or no pruning! An occasional snip here or there of a stray or broken branch, or shearing faded flowers to encourage more blooming is okay.

This plant typically encounters very few pest or disease problems. If a pest or disease problem is identified, treat with an insecticide product, preferably one containing "Neem oil". Neem oil is a safe, triple-action product that can be used to control insects, mites and diseases.
