'Silver Dragon' Liriope is a grass-like perennial which forms clumps of narrow, green leaves striped with beautiful silver and ivory. Erect flower spikes with pale lavender flowers arise among the leaves in late Summer followed by black berries. Stunning contrast with dark foliage plants. Spreads fast under shallow-rooted trees and along streams or ponds. Useful in rock gardens, edging paths, borders and accents. Excellent around boulders or rocks. Drought-tolerant, suitable for xeriscaping.

Feed in Spring and then on an as needed basis through late Summer. We generally recommend a slow-release granular flower food, higher in the middle number: this is phospherous, which helps to promote strong root systems, strong stems and plenty of flowers. Alternatively, you may use a natural or organic, non-burning plant food. Refer to product label for application rates and instruction.

Silver Dragon Liriope Pruning Instructions

Silver Dragon Liriope is virtually maintenance free. If desired, foliage can be trimmed to the ground in late Winter with a lawn mower, shears or a "weed eater" trimmer. Foliage may die back in more northern zones. Make sure to mow before new growth has begun to emerge! Spreads by underground rhizomes so best planted in contained areas.

This plant typically encounters very few pest or disease problems. If a pest or disease problem is identified, treat with an insecticide product, preferably one containing "Neem oil". Neem oil is a safe, triple-action product that can be used to control insects, mites and diseases. If your plant appears seriously stressed or diseased, consult with your local nurseryman, arborist, professional landscaper or local extension agent.
